The Northport Downhill Mile is a fun and fast downhill 1 mile race that that celebrates and promotes Northport’s nature, village charm, and community spirit.
Race starts at Laurel Ave School (same place as the Great Cow Harbor 10k), and runs north (downhill!) on Laurel to Main Street, then turn left and run through the village, ending at the harbor front park where there will be an awards ceremony and participants can visit the Saturday farmers market.
Post Race Festivities:
The race runs right through scenic Northport Village and ends at the waterfront. This is a perfect race to go for a PR in the mile! Awards are distributed shortly after the race.
Bib pickup day of race only (7:45 - 8:45 am) ... Day of race registration closes 8:45
Parking is available in lots at the start area (Laurel Ave School - North side), on Woodside Ave (between start and finish, off Main St just up the hill on the left – behind the Northport Historical Society and American Legion), the finish area (South side corner of Woodbine and main), and near finish area (End of Scudder Ave, near Woodbine).
Single wave for all runners at 9:00 am
Awards:
Age-group awards will be presented to the top 3 male and female in the following categories: 15 & under, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85 & Over. There will be no duplication of awards.
Directions:
Long Island Expressway (L.I.E.) to Exit 51, Deer Park Ave. north to Jericho Turnpike (Route 25). East on Jericho Turnpike for one block to Elwood Rd. North on Elwood Rd. to Fort Salonga Road (Route 25a) then turn right. About 1/2 mile then turn left on Laurel Ave (just past Stop and Shop) - Brosnan School Building will be down on the right . Allow 30 minutes travel time from the L.I.E. to Laurel Avenue School, Northport.
