More than 200 runners competed Saturday, February 27 at Sunken Meadow State Park in the 20th running of the Joe Latino Winter Relays. This race is held annually in memory of Joe Latino, one of the Northport Running Club's founding members. The Bellmore Striders running team won the 6-person relay race. Best individual women's time in the race went to Northport's own Kathy Martin, who ran her 2-mile relay leg in 12:06. Greater Long Island Running Club's Robis DiGermenci had the best men's time of 10:16. Northport Running Club teams performed well with a win in both the Men's Masters (over 40) and Women's Masters divisions and a third place finish in the Men's Open division. Special thanks go out to the members of the Northport Running Club, the Northport American Legion, the State Parks Department and all the teams who helped make this year's race a success.
