2007 Member of the Year - Allen Huggins

Each year the Northport Running Club votes for a Member to be entitled Member of the Year. The honorary title goes to the Member the Club feels has done the most outstanding job in helping the Club in its events and activities. Again this year the Club was faced with a difficult decision in deciding on just one Member for the title. Allen came out on top* with the most votes, by the slimmest of margins, and we all congratulate him and thank him for what he has done for the Club. Allen has been member for 22+ years and has been involved in many of our races including being the Race Director of the Latino Relays for the last 3 years as well as the first NRC president to be in office for 4 consecutive years. Congratulations Allen!

*= Our other MOTY candidate, Mary Nolte, also had strong credentials, receiving just a few votes short, and it is unfortunate we can only give out one award each year but we congratulate her for being nominated and helping our club with her efforts. They are all “winners” and the Club is indeed fortunate to have many individuals that “get involved” and we hope others will follow their lead so we continue to have many candidates for future MOTY Awards.
